Chess Assistant

Chess Assistant is a complete database program, the latest version of which is Chess Assistant v. 9.  Chess Assistant has implemented the use of the Chess Query Language (CQL) which we have described on these pages.

Chess Assistant has released a freeware version of it's database program which can be downloaded from the Chess Assistant website. Some of its features are disabled (namely the size of its databases) but this version allows for a good overview of this excellent program. The latest version is v. 7.150 (Build 930).

Chess Assistant produces excellent webpages from its databases and we have included a sample page here. The games are from the 1950 match between Boleslavsky and Bronstein to determine the challenger to play Botvinnik in the 1951 World Championship Match. The webpage gives a link for the games to be downloaded in PGN format. The games are available in Chess Assistant format by clicking the icon below
